Position Objectives :

We are seeking a part-time Wine Bar Attendant to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Theater Operations & Hospitality, the Wine Bar Attendant is responsible for providing an exceptional guest experience and cultivating strong guest relationships within the JBFC’s Take 3 Wine Bar & Café. This role includes serving food, beer, wine, and alcoholic beverages and maintaining the bar’s operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with NYS Health Department and Liquor Authority regulations. The Wine Bar Attendant serves as part of the Events Staff, as needed, and promotes membership benefits to guests.

Essential Duties and Responsib ilities :

Guest Service:

  • Delivers superior guest service to both members and non-members in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Establishes strong relationships with bar patrons, and proactively and effectively communicates product features and benefits, as well as promotional information.
  • Educates guests on the benefits of membership and actively promotes membership status.

 

Bar Operations:

  • Prepares and serves beer, wine, and alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and guest preferences.
  • Prepares and heats food as needed and adheres to all freshness, sell by dates, and food-safety regulations.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the bar area throughout the shift, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Performs daily bar setup and breakdown procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are in working order and properly stored.
  • Contributes to a team-oriented atmosphere ensuring that operations are running in a friendly, courteous, safe, and efficient manner.

Inventory and Cash Handling:

  • Monitors daily inventory levels and maintains par levels by preparing accurate order listings for replenishment.
  • Tracks and documents waste, spills, and breakage as part of inventory management.
  • Handles cash register transactions, including opening and closing the register, processing payments, and reconciling case and credit card transactions accurately.

Cleanliness and Organization:

  • Ensures the café, bar, and gallery areas are clean and presentable at all times.
  • Adheres to cleaning schedules and promptly addresses spills or clutter.

Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

  • Adheres to all New York State Liquor Authority laws and regulations concerning legal consumption, service, and the prevention of overserving alcohol.
  • Follows all policies and procedures related to the responsible service of alcohol.
  • Adheres to all New York State Health Department guidance and regulations regarding safe food handling, preparation, and storage.
  • Follows all safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a safe environment for staff and guests.
  • Upholds the JBFC Code of Conduct and other company policies and procedures.

Events Support:

  • Executes comparable responsibilities as a member of the Events Team when assigned to support scheduled events.

Required Qualifications :

  • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, including proper serving techniques.
  • Excellent cash-handling and point-of-sales (POS) system proficiency.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A commitment to providing superior guest service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays).
  • Minimum of (1) year previous bartending and food handling service experience required, preferably in a wine bar, café, or similar environment.
  • TIPS or equivalent alcohol service training (preferred).
  • Food handler certification (preferred).
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

Education and Experience :

  • Minimum of (1) year previous bartending and food handling service experience required, preferably in a wine bar, café, or similar environment.

  • Food handler certification (preferred).

Hours: Expected to work varying shifts from Thursdays to Saturdays between the hours of 11:00am-11:00pm, 12-18 hours a week. As needed, some flexibility is required to support JBFC events during the week.

Compensation : $22.00-$25.00/hour
