Metrology Technician | DeWitt, MI

Salary Range: $56,000 - $83,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Perform calibration and verification of precision measurement tools and equipment.
• Operate, program, and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other advanced metrology systems.
• Conduct dimensional inspections of manufactured parts and assemblies using various measurement techniques.
• Analyze measurement data, identify deviations, and generate detailed inspection reports.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and quality standards for inspection planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to measurement equipment and inspection processes.
• Maintain accurate records of calibration, inspection results, and equipment maintenance.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating and calibrating precision measurement equipment (e.g., CMMs, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators).
• Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint interpretation.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality or metrology lab environment.
• Ability to analyze measurement data, identify discrepancies, and troubleshoot measurement issues.
• Familiarity with CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and statistical process control (SPC) software.
• Technical degree or certification in Metrology, Quality Assurance, or a related engineering discipline.

Bonus Qualifications

• CMM programming proficiency (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS)
• Experience with statistical process control (SPC) software and data analysis
• ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT)
• Familiarity with CAD software for model-based inspection
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification
