Job Description

A healthcare network in New York City is looking to add a new certified Part Time Medical Assistant (MA) to their team in the Bronx. In this role, the Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for performing routine administrative, clerical and clinical tasks to help ensure the clinics run smoothly

• State Date: ASAP
• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• Hours: 11:00am - 5:00pm
• Setting: Clinic

Responsibilities:

The Medical Assistant (MA) will:

• Perform registration and processing of all patients
• Take and recording patient's vital signs during the triage function
• Perform blood draws and other laboratory specimen collection as ordered by the medical provider
• Perform EKG
• Schedule patients for annual physicals, semi annuals and lab recall
• Set appointments for referrals and follow-up calls, when necessary
• Direct all incoming telephone calls to appropriate parties and take messages, when necessary
• Escort patients into medical provider's examination rooms and monitor the flow of patients
• Ensure the collection of urine specimens for annual physicals
• Perform other job-related duties, as required

Qualifications:

• 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) in a ambulatory or similar setting
• High School Diploma / GED
• Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA)
• BLS or ACLS/PALS, and CPR
• NYS Medical Assistant (MA) certification
• Proficiency in Phlebotomy and EKG
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds

Desired Skills:

• Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
• Experience with clients dealing with substance use or temporary housing
