The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their team in Libertyville, IL. This is a hands-on, strategic role focused on risk mitigation, contract negotiation, and legal oversight across energy and transportation infrastructure projects. The position is on-site, with the option for two remote days per week after three months.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and mitigate contract risks during negotiations.
- Draft and advise on claims strategy and contract execution.
- Support compliance and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Advise operational teams on legal issues during project execution.
- Contribute to pre-bid planning and risk strategy.
- Manage litigation and outside counsel as needed.
- Provide training and guidance across the organization.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) required
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois and in good standing.
- 2-4 years of legal experience in a firm or corporate setting.
- Strong background in contract negotiation, claims strategy, and risk mitigation.
- Construction industry experience required
- Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills.
