Job Description
The Framing Superintendent will provide overall field leadership, planning, program implementation, coordination, and compliance to ensure the safe, quality construction of the contracted Framing scope of the Work of the Project, on schedule, within budget, proactively focused on stakeholders' expectations and concerns.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Specific to framing activities (and at times applicable to exterior siding), implement and enforce Santee Building Solutions site-specific safety, quality, and schedule / production management programs, as well as framing planning, layout, labor coordination, execution, punch, and relations management, for the Work of the Project.
- Ensure framers and entire project team have a thorough understanding of framing-specific contract documents (esp. IFC drawings, specifications, submittals, etc.) for the Work of the Project. Accountable for reviewing and understanding plans, specifications, and shop drawings. Initiate RFI's with Framing Manager as required. Assist VDC Team and Framing Manager for development of the project-specific framing book and layout sheets.
- Provide industry knowledge and expertise to ensure competent coordination and supervision of all aspects of subcontract trade work, especially construction means and methods, to enforce in daily supervisory activities; Proactively anticipate and initiate risk management, problem solving and related trade work. Accountable for coordinating with framing subcontractor and vendors for their scope of work. Accountable for resolving onsite issues and challenges.
- Develop, implement and enforce: Contract and 4 week schedules; project controls for subcontract trade work, vendor-supplied materials, equipment, services, etc. and third party activities, including but not limited to pre-planning, monitoring, and inspection. Lead and monitor daily coordination meetings to ensure requirements to the Work of the Project are met. Create contingency plans. Accountable for ensuring jobsite remains safe, clean, and orderly.
- Provide and enforce clear understanding of the cost of putting work into place, the critical importance of monitoring labor productivity on a daily basis, and an awareness of costs attributed to non-conformance delays and rework for the Work of the Project. Ensure and monitor required documentation. Accountable for organization of onsite material and weekly onsite inventory. Responsible to the Framing Manager for ordering and releasing of material to the site.
- Proficiently utilize and leverage technology tools and solutions to ensure consistent and reliable results, gain efficiencies, and improve project team performance.
- Implement and enforce daily goal setting and accountability with subcontract trade work supervisors by setting direction, aligning resources, and motivating and inspiring.
Requirements
- Education & Certification – Bachelor's degree, preferably in Construction Science, Engineering Technology, Management or related education and/or experience. OSHA 10 completion card.
- Recommended Work Experience – 5-7 years relevant experience in construction.
- Physical Demands – Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching (with arms and hands), handling, talking, hearing, depth perception, lifting, vision (close, peripheral, depth, ability to adjust focus), and lifting / moving up to 35+ pounds.
- Working Conditions – Considerable local and non-local travel may be required. Work with a group and/or team. Frequent conflict situations may be present. Work after normal business hours. Potential hazardous work. Frequent exposure to extreme outside weather conditions and high levels of noise.
